The Central Policy, Research and Training Academy of Nepali Congress held a special discussion on budget from gender perspective today. In the programme organized by the women forum of the Academy, Academy’s Executive Chief and Party Vice-President Bimalendra Nidhi commented that the recent budget the government brought lacked any target.
Forum Coordinator Dr Arju Rana Deuba said the budget has not prioritized the women issues. She wondered why the budget ignored issues relating to women, children, backward, and disabled people.
Similarly, former Minister of State for Finance and NC mahasamiti member Udaya Shumsher Rana said the budget does not fulfill the country’s need nor address development potential. Gender expert Nigma Tamrakar spoke on type of budget and gender-friendly budget.
