Kathmandu. It has been recommended to increase the salary of government employees . The committee chaired by Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal has recommended the government to increase the salary of employees for the coming fiscal year.
The committee has also suggested the government to fix the ceiling of the minimum and maximum salary of the government employees on the basis of the provisions made in the existing act.
The committee has recommended a 27 percent increase in the salary of the employees of the lower level (office assistant). Similarly, the committee has recommended to increase the salary of the employees of the highest level (Chief Secretary) by 56.71 percent .
That is, the salary of the office assistant has been increased from Rs 27,612 to Rs 35,000 and that of the chief secretary from Rs 77,211.
Earlier, the then Finance Minister Janardan Sharma had increased the salary of civil servants by 15 percent in 2079/80.Since then, the salary of the employees has not increased. Last year, it was announced that the salary of the employees would be increased, but the government had backtracked from the preparations to increase the salary, saying that the revenue would not be able to meet it. However, this time, there is a possibility of an increase in the salary of the employees, according to the officials of the Ministry of Finance .
