According to the report, the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) had given the work of Rs 5 lakh to the councillor of ICAN to participate in the award of ‘National Best Presented Annual Report’ to be presented by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN). It has been found that Upreti was acquitted in the name of saving his career and with the intention that the case would not affect him to become the next vice-president of the organization, even though there was a clear conflict of interest and clear evidence that there was a conspiracy to buy and sell the award for money.

According to another councillor of ICAN, the issue of Upreti’s doing something that should not have been done was raised in the council as well. However, other officials of the organization were also hesitant when Upreti raised the issue that other CAs would also be punished if disciplinary action was taken in such cases. According to the councilors, Aman Upreti played a good role in elevating the incumbent chairman and vice-chairperson to the post and Upreti is also the candidate for the post of next vice-chairperson.

“What Amanji has done is a case of authority. The issue has been raised that it is better to take disciplinary action by ICAN, to protect the dignity of ICAN, and not to allow this case to go to the CIAA or any other agency. But instead of taking action, Upreti was acquitted. The councillor said, “After being saved in one case, Amanji turned around and did another similar work in the Agriculture Development Bank.” Again, the Agriculture Development Bank received the award. For one, the Agricultural Development Bank was in the lone race. It would have been better if Amanji had not died for the award and Amanji for the same amount of money. ’

On the other hand, Upreti has also admitted that he took money in the name of improving the presentation of financial reports. According to him, his other clients have also won awards and other CAs have also worked in this way.
