Balen government’s development model, first ‘dozer’ over anomalies

अर्थ सरोकार

Kathmandu. It seems like the development model of Balendra Shah, who first demolished and built a dozer. When he was making his debut in politics, he was elected as the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City independently, from the day he was sworn in, he himself went out with a dozer to return the seized public land. He demolished many structures built on roads, squares and various public lands by using a dozer when he was the mayor. And, he worked to make public squares or stops, parks or roads open in those places. In fact, after the people liked the Balen model built by demolishing it, he has now become the Prime Minister with public trust.

When Balendra Shah has been the Prime Minister for a month, he has again taken a dozer and tried to bring the public land under the government’s control. On Saturday, he stopped operating the bulldozer in the dense squatter settlements in 3 different places of the capital, which were incomplete during his tenure as mayor. This time, after the support of the squatters, many governments did not want to do the work. Without prior notice, he operated a dozer in the squatter settlement. He has also reiterated his commitment to provide land to the real squatters along with providing food and accommodation to the families living there. In fact, the government’s move to chase down the squatters in the name of squatters and collect the data of the real squatters and help them to get a well-managed home.

Not only in the squatter area, but since the formation of the Balen government, the dozer has been used in many places of distortion and anomaly. The independent intellectuals have attacked many eggs of distortion by the government at once. There are statements that it should have been done more than once. But the dozer used by the government against the anomalies is like throwing a bomb in the chest of the old parties. They have not been able to protest openly. There is no talk of support. For example, the government used a dozer on two of its own ministers after questions were raised publicly and the facts that came out raised doubts. That is also an exemplary work. The previous governments were not ready for this.

When questions are raised with facts, one should not remain in office and should not remain in office. There is a need to check the facts. As a result, Industries Minister Dipak Shah and Home Minister Sudhan Gurung were resigned by the government.

The most important thing is that the government has formed a separate commission to investigate the properties of the high-ranking officials since 2006. How much work this commission can do or not is a different matter. But if the commission succeeds in its objective, then a dozer will be planted in the hearts of those who spread the terror of corruption on the tax of the sweat of the country and the people. And there will be an environment in which the looted money of the state will come into the hands of the government.

The government has run a dozer on the middlemen and commissioners in the survey, land revenue and vehicle license distribution offices. The government has also arrested many such people who harass the service seekers by demanding bribes and commissions even in small works. Meanwhile, big files of the corrupt have also started being opened. For example, the government has run a dozer on the empire of middlemen like Deepak Bhatt, Sulabh Agarwal and others. Along with these middlemen, many businessmen who commit crimes in the financial sector have also been caught. This is a very good step. Some people have not been able to make ends meet by sweating day and night. On the other hand, they are openly committing crimes against the innocent people to pile more money on the pile of money. No matter how big these businessmen are. They must come to action. The law should apply to everyone, big or small.

If the dozer is not used against the crime in the financial sector, then our country, which is on the grey list for money laundering, will not be on the blacklist. If the crime of black money is not cleaned up and brought under the tax net, then we will definitely be on the blacklist of the Financial Action Task Force, which monitors the worldwide monitoring of money laundering earned through crime. If it is blacklisted, Nepalis will not even get a visa to go abroad. Foreign investments will not come to Nepal. There may be an economic blockade on Nepal. The Nepali currency may not have any value. Therefore, the purification campaign started by the Balen government is very correct. But it should be taken to a conclusion. In that process, no injustice should be done to any innocent people. The state should not be in a situation to arrest him first, destroy his reputation and leave him without evidence. That is, instead of taking action against the guilty, the arrest of the innocent is a grave injustice.

For example, there is an empire of more than a dozen middlemen in the stock market associated with more than 63 lakh people. The Balen government has done the right thing by running a dozer there. Because there are many people in the stock market who have invested the money earned by eating and investing in drop by drop. It was necessary to take action against the middlemen who do injustice to these straightforward investors. As a result, the government has used a dozer on those who have looted the investors directly in the stock market by adopting various tricks through various companies. There should be a situation where the cheated investors become the beneficiaries by thoroughly researching them and finding out the truth. Therefore, the common investors should not panic when the Balen government runs a dozer on the middlemen of the stock market. Because not all people in the country are just thieves, fraudsters. There may not be many such fraudsters in the stock market. Therefore, the Balen government’s cleanliness and purification campaign should boost the confidence of the market. Because the purification of the market is a sign of a bright future. Because the Ravi Bar will come again. The day of the stock market will definitely come to fill the height of Mount Everest by drying up even though it is a little buzzy now. It will come soon.

Similarly, the government has also started using dozers on the contractors who are involved in the murder of big contracts and do not work. On Friday, big contractor and RPP leader Bandi Pandey was arrested on similar charges. The government has also started purification by using bulldozers in that area. The government has also imposed various new rules in the case of private schools and colleges. It is also necessary to put a dozer on those who take fees to rub the backs of poor people.

Looking at the work done so far, the government is in the right direction. With some exceptions, the government’s decision to dissolve the student organization and not give government advertisements to the private sector is undemocratic. This is against the open market economy that the state has been following since 048 years. And it is also against the RSP’s own promise. Because trying to ban it in a country with a democratic tradition and constitution is a wrong step. Maybe the government will take the right step in this. The government should withdraw its decision to regulate the corruption and irregularities in the advertising sector. The government also does not have the right to curtail the democratic rights guaranteed by the constitution. Because many people have shed blood and sweat to bring about the present democracy or republic. Therefore, the dozer should be used on the inconsistencies of the student organizations, the middlemen of the advertising sector, but that sector should be opened with regulation, not banning. Moreover, the dozer campaign against the inconsistencies of the Balen government is a worthwhile initiative to purify it.
