Myagdi. Jaljala Rural Municipality of Parbat, which is adjacent to Beni Bazaar, the district headquarters of Myagdi, which has been affected by the latest monsoon-induced disaster, has received about 8 lakh rupees from the migrants. The Nepali Community of Parbat Jaljala has provided Rs 783,358.5 to the people who are born in Australia for employment, profession, business and study.

The amount collected under the leadership of Bikram Khatri, who is based in Australia, has been deposited in the disaster fund of Jaljala Rural Municipality, said Chairman Raju Prasad Acharya. Thanking the donors, Chairman Acharya said that they would be mobilized for the reconstruction of private houses and physical infrastructures damaged by the disaster.

According to him, 126 houses have been completely damaged and 50 houses have been partially damaged by floods and landslides. Another 40 houses are at risk, the rural municipality has collected details. Farse, Lamakhet, Tangwang, Khanigaun and Palsing have been the most affected. The risk of erosion and flooding has increased in the coastal areas.

Vice-chairperson of the rural municipality, Deepak Acharya, said that short-term and long-term plans have been made for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood-affected people. “For the time being, there is a plan to make temporary shelters by providing corrugated sheets, utensils, clothes and food. “In the long run, we will reconstruct private houses and damaged physical structures as per the government’s policy,” he said. ’

According to him, along with private houses, damaged roads, drinking water, irrigation and school buildings should be reconstructed and settlements at risk should be protected. He said that coordination is being made with the federal and state governments, donor agencies and donors to raise the necessary financial resources for the control of floods and landslides.
