The government is to legalize marijuana cultivation and consumption for medicinal purposes.

Presenting the government’s budget estimates for the coming fiscal year 2024/25 in the joint meeting of the parliament today, the Finance Minister said necessary laws would be formulated for the commercial production of marijuana in the country.

 “Legal arrangements will be made for the commercial cultivation of marijuana for medical use,”  he said.
