Kathmandu. The number of investors opening demat accounts in Nepal has reached nearly 81 lakh. Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Dr. According to the data presented by Gopal Prasad Bhatta in the meeting of the Finance Committee of the Federal Parliament, the number of demat accounts has reached 80 lakh 95 thousand as of September 29.

Similarly, the number of active ‘Mero Share’ accounts has reached Rs 51.22 lakh. According to the board, the number of investors who opened trading accounts has increased to more than 35,62,000 till the end of the last financial year.

The share of primary shares in the securities market is still large. The share of ordinary shares is 46.26 percent of the capital raised by the corporate institutions from the primary market. The share of institutional bonds is 31.03 percent, the share of mutual investment funds is 14.81 percent, the share of specialized investment funds is 5.17 percent and the share of preference shares is 2.17 percent.

According to the board, 52 institutions were given permission to mobilize capital worth Rs 79.73 billion in the last financial year. Four institutions have been allowed to mobilize capital worth Rs 4.60 billion till the end of October of the current financial year. Similarly, 20 specialised investment funds have been given permission to mobilize capital worth Rs 48.25 billion so far.

In the second market, the NEPSE index stood at 2603.71 points as of September 29. The total market capitalization during the period reached Rs 4.478 trillion, according to Chairman Bhatta.

There has also been an increase in the revenue received by the state from the capital market. In the financial year 2082/83, revenue of Rs 15.61 billion was collected from the stock market and till the end of September of the current financial year, revenue of Rs 1.54 billion has been received.
