Suspicious customs clearance case: 9 staffers including customs chief removed from their duties

Kathmandu. 9 staffers including Chief Customs Officer of Rasuwagadhi Customs have been relieved of their duties. The Ministry of Finance has relieved 9 persons including the chief officer of the customs office in connection with the case of the clearance of of the EV of the vehicle. 

The Ministry of Finance has pulled the people who were relieved of their responsibilities from the Rasuwagadhi Customs Office to the Department of Finance. 

The Department of Customs is currently investigating on the basis of a complaint that hundreds of EV vehicles were cleared withoutcoming to the border point due to the leakage of information about the change in tax rates before the budget.

An investigation committee has also been formed to investigate the matter.Na bin Dhung ana, personal undersecretary to the Finance Minister, said that the employees of Rasuwagadhi Customs were relieved of their responsibilities on June 2 on the recommendation of the same probe committee. 

A few days ago, the Armed Police Force (APF) had arrested 774 vehicles including EV on suspicionof customs evasion.The Department of Customs said that investigation is currently underway in this regard.
