12 middlemen arrested for ferrying patients from government hospitals to private hospitals

Kathmandu. Police have arrested 10 middlemen from BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.

They were arrested on the charge of duly impersonating them of commission by alluring them of providing medicines at affordable prices to the patients visiting the Academy for treatment.

District Police Office Sunsari Chief Keshav Kumar Thebe said that they were arrested acting on a special tip-off.

Thebe said that a joint police team deputed from Area Police Office, Dharan and temporary police post Ghopa arrested them suspecting their involvement in such activities.

The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Kumar Chaudhary of Rajbiraj Municipality-6, Hasta Shrestha of Bhojpur, Sagar Pokharel of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-15, Sabin Kiranti of Letang Municipality-3, Manish Budhathoki of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-6, Umesh Kumar Chaudhary of Chaudandigadhi Municipality-5 of Udayapur, Dhiroj Niraula of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-17, Rohit Mehta of Inaruwa Municipality-2 and Binod Bhattarai of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-11 ।

Police have also arrested Prabin Pokharel of Damak Municipality-1, Jhapa and 27 Deepkramam of Harinagara Rural Municipality-4 of Sunsari on June 6.

On July 4, Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung and Health Minister Nisha Mehta had monitored BPKIHS and directed the concerned bodies and officials of BPKIHS to control middlemen, irregularities and fraud on patients.
