Samsung’s flagship CSR program Samsung Innovation Campus concluded the Coding & Programming course for its first batch of students from the Pulchowk Campus of Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering. Under the program, the next batch of students will now start the Artificial Intelligence course at the university.

Students were given their certificates of completion at a ceremony that was attended by Ms. Pramila Kumari , Hon’ble State Minister of Education, Government of Nepal, Mr. Sung June Park, Head, Nepal Office, Samsung Southwest Asia, and Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi, Professor & Dean, Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering.

‘We’re very excited to have completed the first batch of our Coding & Programming course with eager participation from students and great support from the faculty and the university. We look forward to a long-term partnership with the prestigious Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering to upskill students in future tech domains such as AI, Big Data & IoT. Our objective has always been to create capable Nepalese youths well adapted for the future and contributing to the rising economy of Nepal, particularly in the context of innovation and technology,’ said Mr. Sung June Park, Head of Nepal Office, Samsung Southwest Asia.

Samsung inaugurated its global CSR program Samsung Innovation Campus at the Pulchowk Campus of Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering in December 2022. Under the program, Samsung will train youth in Nepal on future tech skills such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Big Data and Coding & Programming, contributing to the development of a strong technology and innovation ecosystem in Nepal. The prerequisites to be selected for the courses include knowledge of algorithms, data structures and programming.

As part of the program, youth will be provided real job skills and in-demand tech skills that will improve their digital literacy, learning abilities, creativity and employability. ‘Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering is delighted to run this prestigious course in Nepal. This is instrumental for the development and upskilling of our students. We completed the Coding & Programming course and it was highly appreciated. And I would like to thank Samsung wholeheartedly to run this course at the Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering,’ said Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi, Professor & Dean, Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering.

Along with such technological training, the program also offers soft skills training to enhance students’ employability and ability to bring their knowledge to life. It also nurtures problem-solving capabilities that will enable students to become innovative thinkers.

As part of the courses offered under Samsung Innovation Campus at Institute of Engineering, students will also undergo a practical project component. In this, students will be challenged to present projects of social significance in which AI, Big Data, Coding & Programming and IoT play a role.

Launched in 2019, Samsung Innovation Campus, which is part of Samsung’s global CSR vision of “Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People”, trains students and unemployed youth to be experienced in key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, nurturing them for the next generation workforce.

Samsung believes in using innovation to positively transform communities and create a better life for people through its CSR initiatives. Empowering youth through education is one of the best ways we can prepare our young people to boldly face the world of the future.
