Kathmandu. President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that the relationship between the state and private sector should not be like that of ‘ and the opposition’. Speaking at the FNCCI’s Annual General Meeting, he said that there is a need to change the attitude towards the private sector and reform the old laws.

Dhakal said that the old and impractical laws like the Black Marketing Act have put the entrepreneurs in a difficult position and said that the Federation has been continuously taking efforts to improve such provisions.

“We have made significant efforts to amend outdated laws and change the state’s attitude towards the private sector. “The passage of the ‘Private Sector Protection andPromotion of Private Sector Scheme’ (PSPP) to protect the reputation of the private sector and protect the business security is a major achievement in this direction,” he said. ’

He argues that the state should accept the private sector, which contributes 81 per cent to the GDP and 86 per cent to employment, as the real economic engine.Dhakal said that the goal of prosperity could not be achieved due to the arrest and control-oriented behavior of the businessmen and the unity of all in the common agenda of the private sector.
