Kathmandu. The underpass under pass being constructed } and at the eastern transit has intensified in the Kathmandu Valley. Under the Suryabinayak-Dhuli khel Road Expansion Project under the Araniko Highway, the underpass is being constructed at Sang a on the border of Bhaktapur and Kavrepalanchowk.

Currently, the Suryabinayak-Dhuli khel road is being upgraded to four lanes.Due to the high hills in the Sanga area, the road has been constructed in two lanes of and two lanes. Under this, a two-way underpass is being constructed on the left side of for the vehicles exiting the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the project, the underpass has been constructed to ease the journey as vehicles have to cross a long steep climb while leaving Bhaktapur in the Sanga area.It is also aimed at making the vehicular movement at Sangachowk systematic and uninterrupted.

The total length of the underpass is 1,11 0 meters. Of this, a 20-metre bridge, a 190-metre road towards Banepa and a 900-metre approach towards Bhaktapur are under construction. The height of the underpass will be 6 meters and the width will be 10.5 meters. According to the project, around 90 percent of the underpass construction has been completed so far. The construction of the main structure of the underpass and the approach road has been completed andnow the work of the pavement and has reached the final stage.

After the completion of the construction, the vehicles going from Bhaktapur to Banepa will be operated through the underpass and vehicles coming from Banepa to Bhaktapur will use the upper road.The construction of the under pass is being carried out by the contractor who was awarded the contract for the Suryabinayak-Sanga road section.
