Domestic tourism contributes 2.65 percent to Nepal’s GDP

Kathmandu. Domestic tourism has been established as an important base of domestic economy in Nepal. In the fiscal year 2081/82, domestic tourism is estimated to have contributed (GDP) to 2.65.

According to the ‘Internal Tourism Survey 2081/82′ published by the National Statistics Domestic Tourism Survey {{} 2081/82 {{} in the fiscal year, Nepal’s GDP had reached Rs 5.454 trillion. Out of this, the total value added from domestic tourism was Rs 144.49 billion, which is 2. 65 per cent of the total GDP.

According to the survey, tourism worth Rs 407.17 billion has been consumed through domestic tourism during the review period. It is estimated that production worth Rs 331.84 billion has been generated.

According to the survey, the cost of goods and services used in the production process i. e. intermediate consumption is Rs 187 .34 billion. After deducting the cost of the project, the total value added from domestic tourism reached Rs 144.49 billion.

The office has concluded that domestic tourism is playing a significant role in Nepal’s economy with tourism consumption of more than Rs 400 billion and contribution of 2.65 to the GDP.In recent years, the economic contribution of domestic tourism has been steadily increasing due to the expansion of domestic travel, the attraction of religious,cultural and recreational destinations and the increasing use of tourism-related services, according tothe survey.
