Kathmandu. The old parliament building, which was destroyed during the Gen-G movement, will be turned into a Gen-G museum. The government is preparing to convert the old parliament building (International Convention Centre) at Old Baneshwor into a museum as it was not possible to renovate it.
The building was constructed in 2050 BS with Chinese assistance. With the republic declaration in 2065 BS, the building was used as the parliament building.
The Parliament Secretariat, Investment Board, Law Commission and Rastriya Banijya Bank’s branches were in operation in the premises of the parliament building. However, the building was completely destroyed during the Gen-G movement on September 23 and 24.
The government is preparing to build a Gen-G museum in the status quo as the building that was destroyed during the Gen-G movement cannot be rebuilt.
