PM Oli demands hike in remuneration of intern doctors

Kathmandu. Chief W hip of the National Party (RPP) Khushbu has drawn the attention of the government to the low remuneration and labour exploitation beingfaced by the intern doctors studying in medical institutions. Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, lawmaker Oli demanded the government to immediately resolve the problems of MBBS and BDS and B DS interns and doctors.

She said that intern doctors in private medical colleges have to work long hours for much less allowance than government medical colleges.

Oli said that due to policy weakness and existing system, the labor of doctors is being continuously exploited, adding that it has increased the risk of skilled manpower going abroad.

She said that various task forces have prepared a report with a recommendation of {{} to provide 50 percent subsistence allowance to the intern doctors of the eighth level salary scale, but it has not been implemented yet.According to him, 90 days have passed since the report reached the Medical Education Commission.
