Kathmandu. The National Vigilance Centre under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has taken action against 11,000 government employees in the last four months. Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Centre, Narayan Prasad Bhatta, said that the process of maintaining discipline in government offices and hearing public grievances has been expedited since the formation of the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah. According to him, the registration of complaints related to government offices and employees has increased significantly in the central government from mid-April to mid-July.
According to Bhatta, 1,298 complaints were registered at the centre from mid-April to mid-July. Of them, 1,114 or 85.82 per cent of the complaints have been cleared. It was 11.72 percentage points higher than the same period last year. According to the Centre, 556 complaints were registered between mid-March 2081 BS and 74.10 per cent of the complaints were settled.
The 100 list of governance reforms issued after the formation of the present government had mentioned the implementation of the code of conduct of the employees in letter and spirit. Accordingly, the Centre has tightened and comprehensively monitored the office monitoring and action process.
According to the Centre, a total of 924 offices were monitored from mid-April to mid-July. A total of 11,004 employees including 10,268 employees for not following the code of conduct and time abiding, 645 for not being present in the prescribed uniform and 91 employees were found absent from their office during the monitoring. The Centre has issued strict instructions to the concerned authorities to take action against all these employees who violate discipline as per the prevailing laws.
Similarly, the Centre carried out monitoring of a total of 318 offices from April 2081 to 2082 Shrawan and found 2,775 employees including 2,213 not abiding by the code of conduct and 562 not wearing the prescribed uniform. The Centre has stepped up its activism to make government services citizen-friendly, disciplined and dignified. The Centre has also prepared a plan to expand the use of digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics in the investigation, surveillance, monitoring, surprise investigation and investigation in the days ahead.
Similarly, the coordination with Hello Sarkar, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and other stakeholders would be further strengthened and the regulations, directives, working procedures and work operation procedures related to the center would be updated to bring it in line with the amended Corruption Prevention Act.
Can complain
The Centre has also said that it can also provide information about the complaints related to irregularities and corruption in government offices through phone. Spokesperson Bhatta said that if the government employees have any complaints about not abiding by the code of conduct and not working, they can call the centre’s hotline number 014200345. The center also said that the employees can also be informed that they have suspicious property.
