Kathmandu. More than half of what you earn in Australia is spent on rent. A report by housing advocacy group Everybody’s Home has revealed that more than 50 per cent of income is spent on rent across all Australian cities.

According to the report, people earning up to $70,000 a year spend 56 per cent of their income on rent. 

Employees living and working in eight major Australian cities spend 51 per cent of their earnings on rent.

The report states that the Australian government has pulled out of public and community housing projects that has led to a housing crisis in Australia.According to the report, Australia will need about 1 million public and community housing over the next 15 years.
