Gorkha. As many as 550 people of Gorkha have received passports at their homes through the District Post Office. Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said that 550 people have received their passports at home since April 29. Sharma said that 550 people have availed the service so far out of 600 people filling up the form to get passports at home.

He said that the remaining passports are in the process of arriving. A cabinet meeting held on March 13 had decided to deliver passports to the doorsteps of the citizens through postal service.

According to District Postal Officer Binod Gaire, an agreement was signed between the District Administration Office and the District Post Office on April 29 as per the government’s policy of delivering passport to the doorsteps of the citizens through postal service.

He said that an agreement has been reached between the District Administration Office and the District Post Office to deliver the passport to the doorstep of the citizens in the home district. “As per the agreement, we have set up a counter at the District Administration Office and appointed an employee of the post office. “The service recipient who comes to fill the passport form in the administration chooses whether to come to the office or take it at home while filling the form. In the case of those who want to take it at home, we fill the postal form and collect the necessary details. On the basis of that information, we will deliver it to the home after receiving the passport.” He said that the service recipient has to paste a postal stamp of Rs 55 to get the passport at home. Apart from this, there will be no additional charge.

The service recipients who have filled the passport form have to note down the necessary details at the postal counter of the District Administration Office to get the passport at home. The service recipient has to note down his name, number, address and other details, according to the post office.

Postal Officer Binod Gaire said that the passport will reach the doorstep of the service seekers in the district within at least three days after the passport administration office has handed them over to the post office. “Once the passport is obtained, we will prepare a receipt and submit it to the administration office. “, he said.

The District Post Office is also working as per the government’s policy of delivering passports to the homes of Chumnubri and Dharche rural municipalities in northern Gorkha. However, due to the geographical remoteness, the issue of delivering passports to every household except the center of the rural municipality is complicated, said Binod Gaire, chief of the District Post Office, Gorkha.

“We can only send it to the municipal center in Chumnubri, but we do not have the manpower and resources to reach beyond that. “We have brought this service to the maximum use of human resources as per the government’s policy,” he said. According to the District Post Office, Gorkha, most of the service recipients of Palungtar Municipality, Sahidalkhan and Arughat Rural Municipality receive their passports at home.
