Kathmandu. The government has decided to build a new city for the flood victims. Minister for Physical Infrastructure Sunil Lamsal, while speaking at a meeting of the Development Committee, said that a new city will be built for the flood victims.

Stating that it was impossible to rebuild human settlements in flood-affected areas, Minister Lamsal said the government was moving ahead with the concept of building a new city.

Minister Lamsal said that the government is not planning to relocate the flood-affected people to their old places . Instead, he said that the government is planning to build a new city by incorporating facilities including industries, hospitals and schools.

He also said that the Bhotekoshi floods have taught the local governments a lesson to be equipped to fight the disaster.
