Kathmandu. The five-star Hotel Yak & Yeti has donated Rs 10.11 million to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected people.

According to the hotel, the amount has been provided as part of its social responsibility to help in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the disaster. A team comprising the hotel’s director Arun Kumar Sarraf, his mother Ratna Devi Saraf and brother Umesh Sarraf handed over the assistance amount to Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle.

Hotelier Arun Kumar Sarraf is also the proprietor of Hotel Yak and Yeti as well as Taragaon Regency Hotels Limited (Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu). He expressed confidence that the support would contribute to the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the natural disaster and expressed his commitment to continue the support in the coming days as per the need.

Hotel Yak & Yeti located in Durbar Marg, Kathmandu is one of the oldest and most prestigious names in the tourism and hospitality sector of Nepal. The hotel, which was developed by incorporating the historic Red Palace, has been in operation since 1977.

Yak & Yeti has been associated with Nepal’s hospitality sector as well as art, architecture and heritage as it has been integrated with modern hotel service while preserving Rana period architecture, old artefacts and historical structures.

Along with the Saraf family business, Saraf has also been active in the field of social service, heritage conservation and sustainability. The Saraf Foundation has been working in the preservation, study and promotion of cultural, architectural and Himalayan heritage of Nepal. The foundation has been conducting various programs for the preservation and promotion of historical and cultural heritage through initiatives such as Taragaun Next, Nepal Architecture Archive, linking art, architecture, education, community and sustainability.

Sagarmatha Next is one of the major initiatives undertaken with the support of the Saraf Foundation, which aims to promote sustainable tourism and environmental protection in the Khumbu region. The center, located at Syangboche near Namche Bazaar, has been working to raise awareness about the waste management and environmental challenges that accompany the growing tourism in the Sagarmatha region, as well as to conserve the local community, culture and mountain environment.

The recent support provided by Hotel Yak & Yeti for the flood victims is also considered as a continuation of the same social responsibility.
