Kathmandu. Mantra Thakali (Green Tara Hospitality Pvt. Ltd.) has been taken into action by the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control after the food was found to contain insects .
A joint team of the Department’s Rapid and the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection conducted an emergency inspection of the Thakali after receiving a complaint that insects were found in the food.
During the inspection, chains and goats were found in the kitchen and fridge of Thakali. On the other hand, was also found to have in the kitchen of Thakali}} and .
According to the department, a fine of Rs 250,000 has been imposed as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 for the risk of insects entering the food and the dustbin being open and dirty.
The department has also directed the Thakali to pay attention to cleanliness, to keep the food properly covered, to make pest control effective and not to store food items on inked paper. An official of the department said that the operator of Thakali has also been directed to appear before the department with evidence within 7 days by making these corrections.
