Kathmandu. The Genji Movement Nepal has drawn the attention of the government to take immediate action against Home Minister Sudhan Gurung. Issuing a press statement, the Gen-G Movement has demanded the removal of Minister Gurung from his post and an impartial investigation.

“It is not possible to conduct an investigation while in office,” the statement said, adding that it would clearly create a conflict of interest. Stating that there could not be an impartial investigation against the minister while he was in the post, the organization has termed it against basic moral and legal principles.

The statement also said that the formation of the cabinet should be taken as a serious political and moral decision, targeting the Balen Shah-led government. Stating that the tendency of appointing and reshuffling ministers on a whimper was unacceptable, he stressed that the responsible leadership should show maturity, foresight and accountability.

Stating that the incumbent government is the representative of the people’s mandate obtained through the sacrifices of 76 martyrs, the organization has warned not to do cheap politics over people’s sacrifices. “No compromise on good governance, transparency and accountability is acceptable,” the statement said.

The Genji Movement has reaffirmed the need for the judicial process to be free, fair and free from pressure, and that whoever is guilty must be brought to justice. It has also warned that no one should be given immunity on the basis of position, power or political patronage. The statement was issued by Genji Movement Nepal’s spokesperson Bijay Shah.
