Gang arrested for robbing chains in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have arrested a gang involved in robbing a woman of a chain around her neck. A team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu on Monday arrested a gang involved in the robbery of chains worn around the neck of women in different places of Kathmandu and made them public with the materials used in the robbery.

The arrestees have been identified as Sabin Tamang, 21, Bimal Tamang, 26, of Kakani, Nuwakot, Sujan Tamang, 21, of Nuwakot, Satish Amatya, 44, of Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot and Ritika Majhi, 19, of Solukhumbu.

He said they were arrested on the basis of investigation into the gold robbery case on March 22, April 2 and April 20.

Police confiscated 12.90 grams gold, a screwdriver, a big wrench, eight small wrenches, a mobile phone, a khukuri, hoodie, trousers, jacket and other materials from them.

Spokesperson Bhattarai said that the gang was arrested from Pyutar of Tarakeshwor municipality-4 in Kathmandu and further investigation is underway from Police Circle, Thankot.
