Kathmandu. The wall of the under-construction building has been demolished after the construction company was found using sub-standard bricks in the administrative building of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality against the agreement. The municipality demolished the wall of the construction company, Akash Construction Service, Sindhupalchowk after it was found using two bricks in the administrative building under construction.

Mayor Bimala Rai said the wall was demolished with the help of municipal police on Tuesday after it was found that sub-standard bricks were used in the room of the building with the intention of making more profit by taking responsibility for the construction of the administrative building.

“The agreement with the municipality states that number one bricks will be used. The contractor company had used bricks accordingly while constructing the wall. “They have started using number two bricks in the middle with the intention of making more profit,” he said. The contractor company has been directed to demolish the wall and use bricks as per the agreement. ’

However, Akash Construction Service (Aakash Construction Service), the contractor company, has expedited the construction works with an aim to complete the construction within 18 months of signing the agreement. However, a team from the municipality on Tuesday demolished the wall of the under-construction building, saying that no one has the right to do sub-standard work using sub-standard bricks.

Municipality spokesperson Kamal Giri said Rs 58.718 million has been allocated for the construction of the administrative building in the cost sharing of the government, Ministry of Urban Development and the municipality. The municipality is located in the western part of the district. The construction of a concrete administrative building with RCC slope has been started with the objective of systematizing the service of the municipality which has been providing service from the truss building constructed at Chhapadanda of Durchim 5.

Four locals of Durchim have donated 12 ropanis of land worth more than Rs 10 million free of cost for the construction of administrative office building of the municipality. Padam Raj Rai, Bhagsher Rai, Mohan Bahadur Rai and Diksher Rai of Durchim had provided land free of cost to the municipality.

With the removal of the same truss building in the district where there are ten local levels, Halesi Tuwachung Municipality has started the construction of concrete buildings. Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality and eight other local levels of the district have already constructed their own well-equipped administrative buildings.

However, Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality has not yet operated the well-equipped administrative building constructed on its own investment. The administrative building was constructed by the then rural municipality chief Bhupendra Rai who was the outgoing Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Health of Koshi Province.
