Kathmandu. “The Government of Nepal has made its position clear on the border disputes including Lipu Lekh and the government is fully committed to ensuring that these areas are Nepali territory,” the statement said. Minister for Education, Science and Technology and government spokesperson, Sasmit Pokharel, told media persons that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already made its official position public on the border dispute.

He clarified that this issue is now a matter to be resolved through collaboration between the two governments and diplomatic dialogue. He said that the note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not only for public information but also a formal letter.

Referring to the said statement issued by the Indian government recently and the point that Nepal was trying to expand the border, Pokharel said, “It is not the issue of border expansion, these areas are Nepal’s territory.” The government is clear on this and is committed to its stand. ’

Similarly, on the topic of merger of ministries, he said that although there was no concrete discussion on it in Monday’s meeting, study is being done on its technical and legal aspects.
