. A book titled ‘Jyotirgamaya’ authored by Sudam Prasad Gautam has been released. A book titled ‘Jyotirgamaya’ written by Sudam Prasad Gautam has been officially launched at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, Kathmandu on May 19.

The author Sudam Prasad Gautam is a long-time academic figure.

Gautam has been describing education as not limited to textbooks but as the basis for social transformation.

He also wrote on his social media Facebook that he was very happy to present to you the book ‘Jyotirgamaya (Dreams, Awakening and Change)’, which is a result of one year of hard work. “I am very happy to present to you the book ‘Jyotirgamaya (Dreams, Awakening and Change)’, which has taken shape after one year of hard work,” he said.

The 450-page book is not just a collection of words, it is a living journey of visits to community schools in different districts of the country, an overview of the education systems of the five developed countries, an in-depth dialogue with stakeholders, and continuous reflection and discovery towards education. In order to find answers to thousands of questions, I have tried to dissect the poignancy of education in this book. I have tried to look at the mirror of society and have fearlessly questioned my own ignorance. I want the reader to be able to ask the question, “Am I thinking or not?” before saying “Agree or not” in my preface. Discomfort is the initial stage of change. If this book makes teachers think about their roles, policy makers think about their long-term impact on decision-making, and students think about their purpose, then I will consider my efforts successful. This book is the heartbeat of millions of teachers, students, staff and conscientious citizens of Nepal. It is the result of their experience and contribution. ‘

He further said, “This book is dedicated to all the teachers who are working day and night to make the community schools excellent despite many challenges.”

The inspiration for this book is the experience and attachment of the same teacher friends who continue to serve them despite very few resources, means, and facilities. Also, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the school management committees across the country who are involved in the management of community schools in a voluntary manner, the local levels that have been bringing various model action plans to improve the quality of the schools, and my dear principals who are leading the schools. My dear friend Prabhat Chalaune has done a great job in writing and editing this book. The book would not have been possible without his tireless efforts. I would like to thank him for his dedication and hard work. I can’t thank my life partner Prabha Chaulagain and my family enough for always motivating me to do something. Now the book is in your hands. I humbly request the esteemed readers to point out the shortcomings in it, give constructive suggestions and help in improving the upcoming edition. ‘

The book ‘Jyotirgamaya’ has also presented the distortions, injustice, superstitions, lack of awareness and the need for change in the society.

The title of the book, ‘Jyotirgamaya’, itself refers to the journey from darkness to light. According to the author, the book aims to inspire people towards self-reflection, social responsibility and positive change. The book contains various thoughts and experiences related to education, morality, human consciousness, social responsibility and nation building.

Author Gautam expressed his confidence that the book will create a new thinking and awareness debate among the readers.

Saying education is the most powerful medium for social change, he said the book has tried to inspire the youths towards positive thinking, discipline and social responsibility.

The organizers of the program expressed their gratitude to all the teachers, students, literature lovers and stakeholders for their presence in the program and enhancing the dignity of the program.

The program also included the purchase of books and direct communication with the author.
