Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The movie ‘Unko Sweeter’ has won the highest number of awards at the ‘Third Karnali International Film Festival 2083’ held at Nepal Tourism Board in Bhrikutimandap on Saturday. Bipin Karki and Nabin Chauhan won the Best Director award for the same movie ‘Unko Sweater’ produced by Artmandu Nepal.
Likewise, Jasita Gurung won the Best Actress award for the movie ‘Jerry on Top’ while Paul Shah won the Best Social Icon Actor Award. Karnali Edition award was won by Raj Bahadur Sane, Emerging Producer and Distributor award by Ashish Tamang and Best Short Film Award by Flying Feather Films. Similarly, ‘Prem Geet 2’ producer Santosh Sen was honoured with Karnali Visionary Award.
Actress Jasita Gurung expressed her happiness after receiving the first award of her life and dedicated the award to the entire audience. Actor Paul Shah, who was honored with the ‘Social Icon Actor Award’, said that this award has made him feel more responsible and expressed his commitment to continue his social work through his organization in the days to come. Nabin Chauhan, who won the Best Director Award for his first film, thanked the organizers for appreciating his work.
Festival advisor and former registrar Dr. The main attraction of the event was ‘Looking Back History – First Film Award Dialogue’. The dialogue was presided over by senior artist Narendra Bahadur Shrestha, who organized the Nepal Film Award for the first time by inviting Indian actress Shabana Azmi to Nepal in 2042 BS. Senior director and historian of Nepali cinema, Prakash Sayami, facilitated the interaction where senior actor Shiva Shrestha and senior actress Sharmila Malla shared their glorious experience. Senior artist Shiva Shrestha and patron of the festival and former president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Bhawani Rana were present as special guests.
Festival Director Chakra Bahadur Chand said that the main objective of the festival is to introduce the hidden art, culture and tourism potential of Karnali to the world through Nepali movies. Similarly, NTB senior manager Surya Thapaliya spoke about the possibilities of film and tourism and the role of NTB in it.
Former President of Film Development Board Krishna Malla, President of Nepal Film Artists Association Uttam KC, President of Film Directors Society Nepal, Arun Pradhan, Senior Artist and Director/Producer Rekha Thapa, Actor Dil Shrestha, Actor Himesh Panta, Producer Prem Puri, Artist Pabitra Sanki (Miss PUBBY), Lyricist Harka Saud, Goodwill Ambassador of the Festival and Actress Surakshya Panta, Producer and Director Santosh Sen were present in the event ।
Patron of the festival Bhawani Rana wished Red Cherry Media for the continuity of the festival. Mahendra Kumar Malla said that the festival would be organized in a more sophisticated and responsible manner in the coming years. The third Karnali International Film Festival kicked off from Surkhet on April 26. After that, the local version of the festival was organized at the premises of Kupinde Daha in Salyan.
