Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the arrest of former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife Arzu Rana Deuba. A division bench of Justices Mahesh Sharma Poud el and Nityanand issued the interim order against Deuba’s arrest of the couple .
On the basis of the arrest warrant of the Department of Money Laundering on the basis of the arrest warrant of the Money Laundering Department, Deu ba was also preparing to issue a Red Notice ‘Interpol’ on the basis of the arrest warrant of money laundering of the property.
Deuba had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court questioning the jurisdiction of the court after the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (PMLA) issued an arrest warrant from the Kathmandu District Court.
Hearing the same writ, the Supreme Court ruled that the Deuba couple cannot be arrested on the basis of the arrest warrant issued by the District Court. The apex court has also ordered not to arrest Deuba on the basis of the arrest warrant.
However, if a new arrest warrant is issued by the Special Court, the Deuba couple can be arrested , the businessmen say . Currently, Deuba is in Hong Kong.
