Kathmandu. Police in plain clothes have been mobilized to stop the black marketing of gas. Police in plain clothes have been mobilized at various LPG depots in the Kathmandu Valley in coordination with the Home Ministry and the Industry Ministry after receiving information that black marketing of LP Gas was taking place in the market.

According to the secretariat of Industry Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav, police in plain clothes have been mobilized after the black marketing was found in the market by creating an artificial shortage of cooking gas from India.

On the occasion, Minister Yadav urged Home Minister Sudan Gurung to mobilize police for monitoring of the gas supply and to control the activities of causing problems to consumers and selling them at exorbitant prices despite easy supply of cooking gas. Following Minister Yadav’s request, Home Minister Gurung issued necessary directives to the police administration.

It is said the security personnel in plain clothes have been mobilized at various gas depots in the Kathmandu Valley since Sunday morning as per the Home Minister’s directive.

According to the Industry Minister’s Secretariat, police have been mobilized to take immediate action if any activities involved in hiding gas, creating artificial shortage, selling it at more than the fixed price or black marketeering.

According to the Home Ministry, police in plain clothes would be mobilized at gas depots and sales centres in other districts as well, if necessary, based on the monitoring carried out in the Kathmandu Valley. KATHMANDU: The government has made preparations to further tighten the monitoring to control black marketing, making it clear that any activities that inconvenience the consumers by creating artificial shortage would not be acceptable despite the easy supply of cooking gas.
