Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said that he would go to the legal remedy as he was cheated in the Phewa Lake land scam in Kaski.
Minister Gurung said that legal action would be taken against the land leased for the operation of ‘Adventure Sports Nepal’, which was established a decade ago with the objective of promoting adventure tourism on the banks of the Fewa Lake.
It may be noted that the land leased by the company led by the Home Minister was also found to be inside the area while removing the structures constructed by encroaching on Fewa Lake as per the Supreme Court’s order. Minister Gurung and three other partners are preparing to go for legal remedy alleging that the landowner had cheated them by concealing the fact that the land was encroached upon by the landlord, according to his secretariat.
“Before we took the land on lease, we were assured by the landowners that the land did not fall within the 65-metre standard. Even in the land ownership certificates, it was shown that the land was safe, but later the municipality found that it fell within the criteria,” Home Minister Gurung’s secretariat quoted him as saying.
