Kathmandu. Banana farming has been badly damaged due to heavy storm and rainfall at Barhadashi rural municipality in Jhapa district. The storm has caused damage to the commercial banana farming in Battibigha and other areas of Barhadashi Rural Municipality- 7 .

According to locals, banana plants planted in around 60 bighas of land have been uprooted and destroyed by the storm. 

It is estimated that the economic loss due to this natural disaster is around Rs 30 million.Farmers in the area are worried after the banana crop was destroyed while preparing to send the produce to the market. 

Similarly, the Chief District Officer of Jhapa along with a delegation of rural municipality has inspected the affected areas to take stock of the status ofthe damages.The monitoring team is collecting the details of the damage .
