Supreme Court orders action against microfinance defaulters

Kathmandu. Now, action will be taken against those who say that they will not repay the loans of microfinance financial institutions and will be penalized. The Supreme Court has issued a mandamus order in the name of the government to take action against those who run the campaign saying that they do not have to repay the loan of microfinance and do not have to repay. 

A division bench of Justices Hari Prasad P huyal and Bal Krishna Dhakal issued the order while hearing a writ petition filed byadvocates of Biratnagar, Hari Prasad Phuyal and Bal Krishna Dhakal. 

Similarly, the government has also ordered to control anti-microfinance financial institutions.Along with this, an order has been issued in the name of the government not to obstruct the functioning of microfinance financial institutions. 

Maniram Gyawali and Durga Prasain’s group have launched a campaign against microfinance finance . 

The Supreme Court has defined microfinance not only as a business institution but also as a means of poverty alleviation and women empowerment.Therefore, the Supreme Court has ordered to stop anti-microfinance activities and provide necessary security.
