Food items worth Rs 20.79 billion imported from Birgunj border point in 10 months

Kathmandu. Food grains worth Rs 20.79 billion were imported through Birgunj border point in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that the import value through the customs point has decreased by Rs 3.87 billion or 15 per cent in the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year.

Nepal imported 16 types of food grains worth Rs 24.66 billion in the first 10 months of the last fiscal year.

Imports of rice amounted to Rs 10.94 billion, maize worth Rs 5.31 billion and rice worth Rs 2.85 billion in the current fiscal year. Similarly, malt worth Rs 590 million and buckwheat, millet and other food grains worth Rs 330 million were imported from Nepal, said Information Officer Bista.
