Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Executive Chairman of the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) Maheshwor Bhakta Shrestha has pledged to make the corporation debt free within the next three years. Shrestha said this after a meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar appointed him to the post of General Manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation.

“I have a plan to expand the services of the corporation in Europe and make the corporation efficient, economical, transparent and professional and able to run on my own income by repaying the existing loans. “, he said.

On the occasion, Executive Chairman Shrestha expressed his determination to make the corporation self-reliant on the basis of his experience, expertise and relations. Shrestha, who has a long experience in aviation service, has been appointed as the executive chairman of the corporation to handle the responsibility of the general manager of the corporation.

Shrestha, who retired from the NAC director in 2049 BS, is regarded as an expert, experienced and successful person in the aviation sector of Nepal. Prior to this, he had served as the Director of Marketing Department, Institutional Department and Business Promotion Department of the corporation.

Shrestha is the first Nepali to return home from the Westminster University in London after completing his studies in aviation. He has also studied aviation services in Canada, management of air services, planning, market promotion, etc. from reputed educational institutions in the US and India.

The government has given the responsibility of leading the corporation to Shrestha as he is experienced, subject matter expert and has a good reputation in the field of aviation. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadga Raj Poudel had appointed Shrestha as the board members of the corporation on the basis of open competition before this.
