Kathmandu. The government and the families of Om Prakash Mehta and Jaya Prakash Mehta, who were killed in the incident that took place at Kaptangunj of Dewangunj Rural Municipality-3 in Sunsari district on July 26, have signed a seven-point agreement.
As per the agreement, the government has expedited the process to declare the duo as martyrs and has committed to provide Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
An impartial investigation will be conducted into the incident and action will be taken against the guilty. An investigation is to be started immediately regarding the legal status of a madrasa based in Dewangunj rural municipality-3.
As per the agreement, one eligible family member of both the deceased would be provided employment and a memorial park would be constructed in the rural municipality in coordination with the local government in the memory of the deceased.
The agreement to this effect was signed by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung on behalf of the families of the deceased. The victims’ families have expressed confidence that the government would implement its commitments on time while the government would implement all the points mentioned in the agreement in a phased manner. The funeral will be held today.
