Kathmandu. The government has decided to ensure 2 percent stake in the IPO for the security personnel (IP O). Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha said that the legal process has been initiated to ensure a 2 percent share in the IPO for the security personnel who are working round the clock during the disaster.

Appreciating the contribution, he said that the legal process has been initiated to ensure 2 percent stake in the primary share of the hydropower project (IPO).

Appreciating the role played by the security personnel in the search and rescue operation despite difficult geographical conditions and adverse weather, Minister Shrestha clarified that a policy decision has been taken to include the security personnel in the ownership of the hydropower, respecting their dedication and high sense of responsibility towards the nation.

Minister Shrestha also praised the coor dinating role played by the officials of the Ministry, the Electricity Authority , the Department of Irrigation and the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology during the Bhotekoshi disaster.

He also said that strict instructions have been issued to the subordinate bodies to formulate plans to make future hydropower projects disaster-resilient by giving high priority to safety standards.
