Kathmandu. In recent times, the number of youths staying in the village has increased and joining various enterprises and businesses in Bhojpur. The youths who have returned from abroad and are staying in the village have taken up agriculture and animal husbandry as a business.
They are engaged in cardamom, kiwi, avocado, walnut, chiraito farming and goat farming commercially. The local youth have been attracted to the village as they can earn income from agriculture and animal husbandry. Some youths who have returned from abroad have started businesses using the skills and experience they have learned abroad. They have made agriculture and animal husbandry a means to become self-reliant.
Puskar Bista, a youth of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-5, Cholanti, has started commercial goat rearing in the village after returning from abroad. The ‘Puskar Agriculture and Livestock Farm’ that he has been running has been rearing Boer and local breed goats. Bista, who has been rearing goats commercially for the past six years, said that he has a better income than abroad.
“Instead of going abroad, if I can start a business in my own place, I will earn a good income,” he said. Another youth, Bhimraj Bista, returned from Malaysia and is active in agriculture business in the village. He has been engaged in orange and lemon farming along with goat farming in Bhojpur Municipality-6. He said that he can be exemplary by running a business in the village.
Another youth, Lal Bista, has also been cultivating cardamom commercially. He said that after the improvement in the price of cardamom in recent times, the local youths have been attracted to commercial farming. He said that he has been cultivating cardamom in about 40 ropanis of land including new and old orchards.
“If you work professionally, you can earn a good income here,” he said, “If you can work hard, there is no problem of earning four to five lakh rupees annually by staying with the family.” Many youths of the village have returned from abroad and are involved in entrepreneurship. ‘
He said that with the increase in the activism of youths in the field of agriculture and livestock, employment has been created at the local level and production and income have increased. The youths who have returned from abroad have started running businesses using their own land, local resources and skills, which has had a positive impact on the economic activities of the village.
