Kathmandu. The Ministry of Science and Technology has requested all the local governments to coordinate and facilitate to take necessary action as per the law against the schools not providing scholarships as per the rules.
The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFG) has requested the local levels to monitor and facilitate the details of thescholarships that the private and public schools have provided 10 percent scholarships on the basis of the number ofstudents in accordance with the Education Act and Regulations ।
According to the Act Related to Compulsory and Free Education, 2075, private investment schools andschools operating under public educational trusts should reserve seats to provide free education to the students as prescribed.
Similarly, the Education Regulations, 2059 states that the institutional schools should provide scholarships to poor , disabled, women, Dalit and indigenous students without reducing the total number of students by at least ten percent.The Ministry has requested all the schools to immediately update in the IMIS } of the students who are selected through the selection method prescribed for awarding scholarships as prescribed.
The letter states that the schools should make the details of the scholarships public so that all the parents can see the details of the scholarships and the schools that do not monitor and update the details of the scholarships provided by the school.
