Kathmandu. Janaki Rural Municipality of Kailali has started construction of its administrative building a decade after its establishment.

The rural municipality had to wait for a decade for the construction of the administrative building as it took time to acquire land due to lack of public land in the rural municipality. Engineer Yogendra Shahi said brick entrepreneur Tej Pratap Rana donated 10 kattha of land to the rural municipality.

Shahi said that the two-and-a-half-storey administrative building is being constructed at a cost of Rs 120.8 million, according to engineer Shahi.

According to him, as per the agreement signed on July 8, 2082 for the construction of the building, it has to be completed by July 20, 2084. “The construction of the building has been delayed due to lack of land. Shahi said, “From next year, the rural municipality will provide services from its own building.” ’

Manish Kumar Shah, an engineer at the construction company, said that 25 percent of the construction work has been completed so far. He said it was difficult to work during the rainy season as there is a problem of inundation at the construction site. “The foundation work has been completed. The first floor of the project is expected to be completed by mid-July. “If there is no problem while carrying out the work, we will complete the building on time and hand it over to the rural municipality,” he said. ’

The rural municipality has been providing its service from the administrative building of ward-1. Some branches are still operating in rented accommodations. The service of Ward No. 1 is being delivered from the building of the erstwhile Durgauli VDC. The administrative buildings of wards 5 and 6 have not been constructed due to the problem of public land in the rural municipality. Both the ward offices have been providing services from rented houses.
