Kathmandu. Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle presented the Economic Survey of the current fiscal year 2082/83 in the parliament on Tuesday. Presenting the Economic Survey Finance Minister Wagle said that despite the uncertainties in the world economy and regional conflicts, Nepal’s macroeconomic indicators have improved and there has been satisfactory progress in the social sector. 

Wagle presented the survey and said that the external sector of the country is very strong. According to his remittances, (remittance) 37.7 has increased by 1.45 trillion. 

The foreign exchange reserves have reached a historic high of Rs 3.41 4 trillion. This is enough to sustain the import of goods and services for 18.5 month. However, the increase in trade deficit by 11.2 percent to 10.98 trillion has become a challenge for the economy.

According to the Economic Survey, there has been a significant progress in technology-friendly payments.As of mid-March, the transaction of QR through has crossed Rs 125 billion. Inflation (inflation) is under control, with an average of 2.13 percent. Nepal has made progress in the human development index. The human development index is 0.622 and the average life expectancy of Nepalis is 71.3 years. 

In the health sector, the maternal mortality rate has come down to 151 per 100,000 and the child mortality rate under 5 years has come down to 33 per 1,000.The net enrolment rate at the basic level has reached 97.8 per cent towards education, while the percentage of citizens in health insurance and social security fund is increasing in the economic survey according to the Economic Survey
