Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Budget: Revision of Rent Tax Rate, Citizenship to be Delivered to Households From Now On

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has revised the restored tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year. Acting Mayor of KMC Sunita Dangol said that the revision in the restoration tax rate has been made while presenting the budget for the coming fiscal year.

Likewise, the KMC has announced a 10 per cent discount to those taxpayers who pay tax by mid-October and waive penalty to those taxpayers who pay arrears oftax by mid-October and to waive penalty to those taxpayers who pay arrears tax by mid-October.

If the rental income is less than Rs 240,000 per annum, the rent tax will be reduced from 10 per cent to 7 per cent for residential purposes and 5 per cent if the rental income is less than Rs 240,000 per annum.

Recommendation fee has been made free under some headings to increase ownership and trust in the tax. It has been proposed to collaborate with the concerned bodies including experts for tax analysis and to expand the scope of tax and to widen the scope of tax by associating taxpayers with commodity associations.

Door-to-door citizenship

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to provide citizenship certificates and national identity cards to every household from the next fiscal year. Unveiling the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84, KMC’s acting chief Dangol said youth-centred self-employment programme would be implemented in the coming fiscal year. For this, Rs 100 million has been allocated. The KMC has allocated budget for the construction of a memorial with the names of martyrs and immortal police personnel.
