Kathmandu. The Ministry of Education and Sports has warned of taking action against educational institutions running A-Level, CBSE, IBDP and other foreign educational programmes without the permission of the Ministry.

The Ministry has tightened the implementation of the laws after the Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved the Foreign Educational Programmes (Operation and Regulation) Regulations, 2083 BS with a view to improving the quality and making the regulation of educational programmes being run in the name of foreign affiliation more effective.

Krishna Chandra Pokharel, under-secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports, said that some educational institutions were running such programmes without taking permission from the ministry.

The Ministry has urged all the stakeholders to inform the Ministry in writing within three days if they have any information about the educational institutions running foreign educational programmes without taking permission.

The regulation has been implemented with the objective of enhancing the quality of higher education. According to the Ministry, new standards will be applicable to the academic programs being run in the country by taking affiliation to foreign universities or educational institutions.
