Kathmandu. The government has sealed the ‘Industry Training Institute’ (ITI). A joint monitoring team from the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and the Department of Foreign Employment padlocked the institution after it was found that the organization was carrying out skill testing and certification with permission only.

The team conducted an emergency inspection on the basis of a complaint that the workers going for foreign employment were being provided with the certificate of skill certification against the prevailing standards.During the monitoring, the organization was found to have violated the existing laws and conditions, the ministry said. 

The institute, which has been granted permission to provide skill training only by the CTEVT , has been found to have unauthorizedly used the right of skill testing and certification given only to the government agencies. 

The monitoring team has also found that the organization has violated the law by conducting training on subjects other than the permitted genres. During the monitoring, the team seized the registration certificate of the organization, agreement with a foreign company, details of skill test and other important documents for study. All operations of the organization have been suspended until further orders. 

The officials involved in the monitoring said that everyone should uphold the dignity of law in a democratic system and all should cooperate in the vision, mission and commitment of the government.According to the ministry, further legal action will be initiated against the organization after a detailed investigation of the seized documents.
