Kathmandu. The Kathmandu District Administration Office has directed the Kathmandu Valley to construct separate smoking spaces in hotels and restaurants operating in the Kathmandu Valley. Issuing a notice, the administration has directed the hotels and restaurants operating in the district to strictly follow the legal provisions related to smoking.

According to the Tobacco Products (Control and Regulation Act, 2068, the Administration has directed all hotels and restaurant operators to clearly distinguish the places for smoking and to manage the places set aside for smoking and to manage the place set aside for smoking from all sides and its smoke does not reach other people ।

The office has stated that regular monitoring will be carried out in coordination with the designated bodies. During the monitoring, maximum legal action would be taken as per Clause 17 of the Tobacco Products (Control and Regulation Act, 2068 if the monitoring was found to have made provisions for smoking against the law or not complying with the Act.
