Kathmandu. More than 87,000 cylinders of cooking gas have been brought to Kathmandu through alternative routes in the last three days after the road collapsed at Krishnabhir of Dhading along the Prithvi Highway. According to the Nepal Oil Corporation, 87,877 cylinders have been brought to Kathmandu after ‘refilling’ from factories based in Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhanusha and Mahottari from different industries.

According to NOC Spokesperson Manoj Thakur, 24,494 cylinders entered Kathmandu Valley on September 3, 34,134 on September 3 and 29,249 cylinders on September 2. The NOC has been supplying petroleum products and LP gas through alternative routes in and around the Kathmandu Valley due to the obstruction of the main highway.

Fuel tankers and gas bullets were stranded on the way when the road was blocked at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway due to the erosion of the Trishuli River on August 30.

Immediately after this, the corporation has made arrangements to bring gas cylinders filled to Kathmandu by using alternative routes. The corporation has directed the gas industry to regularize the refilling and transportation even on public holidays to facilitate the supply of gas.
