Kathmandu. The Ministry of Education and Sports has directed to take action against teachers working in community schools if they participate in political party programs. All 77 Education Development and Coordination Units have been directed to take necessary action as per the law by increasing surveillance on the involvement of teachers in politics.

The directive issued by the School Education Section of the Ministry states that the teachers working in various community schools in Baitadi, Baglung, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchowk, Mugu, Rautahat and Salyan among other districts are participating in the programmes of political parties.

The Ministry has stated that such activities of teachers would be contrary to the clause(1) of Rule 133 of the Education Rules, 2059.

The directive has asked to further investigate and monitor such activities and coordinate with the concerned local level to take necessary action against the teachers violating the code of conduct as per clause (c) and Rule 143 of Rule 137.

The letter signed by the ministry’s under-secretary Lilanath Pokharel states that the directive has been issued as per the ministry’s decision dated September 22, 2083. The notice of the directive has also been given to the education department.
