Kathmandu. Due to the continuous rain for the past two days, there is a problem in the final management of garbage in the Kathmandu Valley.
Chief of Environment Management Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sarita Rai, said that transportation and management of waste has been affected after the water started flowing into the Sisdol landfill site due to incessant rainfall.
Saying that there is a problem in the management of the final garbage, Mayor Rai has urged the residents to manage the waste at the source. Urging the people not to throw the garbage of houses, shops, businesses and compounds on the roads, public places, streams and open spaces, he said that throwing garbage at the mentioned places would block the road and also obstruct the drainage of water.
Rai also informed that the garbage collection and transportation will take place regularly as soon as the situation becomes normal. At present, around 200 vehicles are managing the waste from 18 local levels of Kathmandu Valley at the landfill site.
