Kathmandu. The issue of demonetization has been raised in the parliament . Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Yagyaman i Neupane raised the issue of demonetization while speaking in the House of Representatives. Raising the issue of demonetization in India as well, he called for immediate demonetization and bringing those notes into the banking system.

Accusing those who were in power for the last 35 years of amassing black money illegally, Neupane claimed that they were trying to conspire against the elected government in the name of black money.

NCP Chief Whip Yubaraj Dulal has also supported Neupane’s demand. He said that all the lawmakers of the NCP are ready to sign on such a proposal and ask what stopped the government from doing so.

The issue of demonetization had been raised earlier as well. The Sushila Karki-led government, which was formed after the Gen-G movement, had also asked the Rashtra Bank whether demonetization was necessary or not. After briefing the Rashtra Bank that black money was not out of the form of notes as the rumors } were circulating outside, the then government came to the conclusion that there was no need for demonetization.

Bank officials say that even the current government is not in a position to demonetize }. However, the ministers in the government themselves claim that there is zero possibility of demonetisation on the eve of the upcoming local elections.
