Kathmandu. Ruby Sitaula has announced her candidacy for the post of central member of the Nepali Congress (NC) in the 15th general convention of the Koshi Province Women (Youth) category. Sitaula has announced her candidacy from Jhapa, saying that the time has come to connect her journey with the party’s political culture, struggle and organization with national responsibilities.

Announcing her candidacy, the 22-year-old Sitaula said that her goal is not just to win the election, but to make the political journey that will be built after it result-oriented. She believes that the Congress should develop a new thinking and working style according to the changing political, social and economic environment.

She said that new economic thinking, technology-friendly organization, equal access to opportunities and building trust in political institutions are the main needs of today. Sitaula has presented her candidature not as a momentary political wave but as a public declaration of her vision of what the Congress should be like in the next decade.

She said that women’s political participation should not be limited to quantitative representation but women’s experience and perspective should be at the center of policy-making. She also said that youths should not be limited to election crowds and slogans but should be given a meaningful role in organizational building, policy making and decision-making.

Stressing on the need to respect the glorious history of the Nepali Congress and use it for building the present and future, Sitaula said that building political practices and organization as per the new times would be her priority. Stating that she had a goal to take her political journey from Jhapa district as the youngest general convention representative to the center through Koshi Province, she expressed her commitment to make sense of her presence in politics rather than looking for the reason for her presence in politics.
