Kathmandu. As the festive season is approaching, the government has intensified preparations to repair the main roads blocked due to floods and landslides and bring them into operation before Dashain.
Spokesperson at the Department of Roads, Shuvaraj Neupane, said that the roads damaged by the natural disasters and the roads were being repaired in a speedy manner.
“Repair of roads in flood-affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan and Gorkha districts has also been started,” said Spokesperson Neupane, adding, “Vehicular movement will be resumed up to Dhunche of Rasuwa within the next 4-5 days. Even if there is some inconvenience in travelling, there will be no situation of not being able to go home from the Kathmandu Valley or stopping the transportation of food and essential goods.” ‘
According to the latest information made public by Nepal Police, all major highways in Rasuwa district of Bagmati Province have been obstructed due to the Bhotekoshi floods that took place on August 24.
Similarly, the Beni-Jomsom road section at Baisari of Raghuganga rural municipality-2 in Myagdi district has been completely closed due to a landslide that took place on September 26.
The Kaligandaki Corridor at Baudikali Rural Municipality-3 in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) has been affected since September 30 and has been brought into operation on a one-way basis for now. However, heavy vehicles cannot ply on the road, police said.
Similarly, the Besisahar-Khangsar road section, which was affected by the floods in Manang district on October 1, has also come into operation on a one-way basis. The police have said that necessary coordination and work is being done to bring the remaining blocked roads into full operation as soon as possible.
